‘I have been looking for something to replace my primary 12 string and this is it. With a little bit of chorus effect, played through a fishman Rare Earth Blend soundhole pickup, and a fishman amp, this easily replaces a 12 string but takes half the work to play.I have watched/read dozens of reviews and videos, and the only critique people offer is that some consider the D-35 "muddy." This is because, until the top opens up, if you strum hard right over the soundhole, the bass is incredibly rich. Solution: play closer to the bridge until the top loosens up, but even better, adapt to the guitar. I am very happy that I can use a gentler touch and get MORE volume than other guitars. In my view many amateurs strum too hard and sort of bang on a guitar instead of really strumming, probably because they started on plywood guitars of some kind. In fact, I would highly recommend this guitar to a beginner, because it will train you not to beat on your guitar.’
